Two-day marksmen's festival in the Wiedenbrügge district of Wölpinghausen municipality on the Steinhuder Meer
Wiedenbrügge belongs to the municipality of Wölpinghausen in the collective municipality of Sachsenhagen. The small village on the Steinhuder Meer has preserved its own village identity, which becomes particularly visible in the annual marksmen's festival. While the larger municipality of Wölpinghausen organizes its own club festivals, Wiedenbrügge maintains its own social highlight with the Schützenfest.
With two days of festivities, the Wiedenbrügge festival is more compact than many club festivals in the region. This format allows for a concentrated program structure without excessive logistical effort. On Saturday, the bird shooting and the festival evening are the focus, while on Sunday, the festival service, the parade, and the King's dinner mark the conclusion of the festivities.
The marksmen's clubs in the municipality of Wölpinghausen maintain a close network among themselves. The Wiedenbrügge Schützenfest is part of this series – complemented by the marksmen's festivals in Wölpinghausen itself and the harvest festivals of the village community. Friendly clubs from the entire Sachsenhagen collective municipality are invited to the parade and contribute to the festive atmosphere with their participation.
Visitors to Wiedenbrügge during the festival season experience a classic, authentic North German village festival. The festival is run by volunteers, the members pitch in, and the village community is at the center. This form of festival is characteristic of the Schaumburg villages and makes the region's marksmen's culture a living heritage.
The 2026 edition continues Wiedenbrügge's festive tradition. The two-day format allows for a compact yet content-rich program structure that involves the village community and hosts friendly clubs.
The board and festival committee are preparing the festival with great volunteer commitment.
The exact program for 2026 with start times will be published by the Wiedenbrügge Marksmen's Club in spring 2026. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
