Independent Schützenfest of the Vollbüttel Marksmen's Association in the Isenbüttel collective municipality
Vollbüttel, as a district of the Isenbüttel collective municipality, has an active organiser of club life in its marksmen's association. Its own Schützenfest – clearly separated from joint events with neighbouring associations – is an expression of the district's independent identity and an important anchor for social cohesion.
The three-day festival programme follows the proven Lower Saxony pattern. Friday evening is dedicated to the start of the festival with catering and dancing. Saturday focuses on the King's shooting for active members, ladies, and youth, complemented by another evening of dancing. The highlight is Sunday with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), a grand parade through Vollbüttel, the King's proclamation, and the King's dinner.
The Isenbüttel collective municipality comprises the communities of Isenbüttel, Calberlah, Ribbesbüttel, and Wasbüttel with their respective districts. The area is located in the southern Gifhorn district, between the Mittelland Canal and the Aller river, in the historically shaped Boldecker Land region. Schützenfeste have a long tradition here and take place in various constellations – as purely club events, as joint festivals of neighbouring clubs, or as events specific to a district.
The Boldecker Land, with its mixed forests, meadows, and small streams, is an attractive cultural landscape. Hiking trails, cycling routes, and small nature reserves invite visitors. Those attending the Schützenfest can easily combine their visit with an excursion to Ribbesbüttel moated castle or to the heathlands in the northern part of the district.
The festival weekend begins on Friday evening with the opening and a first dance evening, which traditionally marks the social start. Saturday focuses on the competitions: the King's shooting for all classes will take place at the association's own shooting range. Saturday evening is again reserved for dancing and socialising.
On Sunday, the festival programme culminates in the well-known highlights: a morning pint (Frühschoppen), the assembly of the marksmen, a grand parade through the district of Vollbüttel accompanied by the marching band, the proclamation of the new monarchs, and the King's dinner in the festival tent with honours for deserving members.
The exact programme for 2026 will be published by the organiser in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Schützenplatz Vollbüttel, district of Isenbüttel, 38550 Isenbüttel (Gifhorn District).
By car via the L321 or L322. Parking is available at the Schützenplatz and in the surrounding streets. By public transport from Gifhorn station via bus line.
June 5th – 7th, 2026 (Friday to Sunday).
Festival grounds are free during the day. Dancing evenings may have a small cover charge.
Vollbüttel Marksmen's Association. Current information is available on the event portal of the Isenbüttel collective municipality.
The festival is an independent event – clearly distinct from the joint Schützenfest Vollbüttel/Ribbesbüttel in July and the BSC-Isenbüttel festival.
