Oktoberfest at the Schützengilde Vöhrum
Vöhrum, one of Peine's fastest-growing districts, is home to an active marksmen's guild with a long tradition. In addition to the classic Schützenfest (marksmen's festival), the annual Oktoberfest is one of the highlights of the club's social calendar. With the Oktoberfest, the guild bridges the gap between North German marksmen's culture and South German Wiesn folklore – a combination that has long since arrived in Lower Saxony and found its own audience.
Atmosphere and Program
The festival begins in the late afternoon or early evening. In the festival tent or the large hall of the Schützengilde, beer tables and benches are set up in long rows. A band (often brass music or a Bavarian-style show band) leads through the evening with polka, waltz, Schlager, and of course, the classic Wiesn hits. Bavarian specialties – pretzels, roast chicken, pork knuckle, Weißwurst, bratwurst, along with freshly tapped beer – are on the menu.
The Schützenhaus Venue
The Schützengilde Vöhrum at Posener Straße 45 offers its own infrastructure, which is ideal for such festival evenings: a large hall, outdoor areas, shooting ranges, a bar, and a kitchen. The festival benefits from this in-house logistics and the voluntary commitment of numerous members.
Club Context
The Schützengilde Vöhrum sees itself as the guardian of local marksmen's traditions and, at the same time, as a social meeting point in the district. The Oktoberfest complements the traditional Schützenfest with an additional, well-attended format and strengthens the bond between the club and the district.
