Schützenfest of SV St. Hubertus Holthausen — Parade with the Music Association Holthausen/Biene on the first May weekend
The St. Hubertus Holthausen Marksmen's Association e.V. bears the name of the patron saint of hunters and marksmen, thus standing in the Catholic marksmen's tradition widespread in the Emsland region. Holthausen is a district of Lingen that has retained its village identity despite incorporation — and the marksmen's association is one of the central pillars of this identity.
A special feature of the festival is its accompaniment by the Music Association Holthausen/Biene — a joint association uniting musicians from both districts (Holthausen and Biene). This constellation reflects the close connection between the two Lingen districts, which are geographically close and culturally overlap in many ways.
The festival takes place on the May weekend — Friday, May 1st (Labour Day, public holiday) and Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. The extended weekend with the public holiday makes it ideal for a concentrated two-day Schützenfest with all important program points.
Like all Schützenfeste, the Holthausen festival is an affair for the entire village community. Members, friendly associations, the parish, the music association, and the neighborhood come together — and organize the festival together. This supportive community makes the festival more than just a club event: it is a piece of living village culture.
The 2026 edition continues the Holthausen marksmen's tradition. The joint Music Association Holthausen/Biene gives the parade its special touch.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the club in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones:
