Salder and Heerte

Salder is one of the oldest and most culturally significant villages in the city of Salzgitter. The Salder Renaissance Castle now houses the Municipal Museum and is the venue for Advent gatherings, summer cultural events, and special exhibitions. Heerte, the neighboring district, is located in the gentle rolling hills and is characterized by its rural nature. The joint Schützenverein Salder/Heerte connects both villages and organizes the annual Schützenfest.

Classic Schedule

• Vogelschießen (bird shooting) – Determination of the new shooting king/queen
• Königsproklamation (king proclamation) – with the awarding of the king's chain
• Festumzug (festive parade) – through Salder and/or Heerte with a marching band
• Festzelt (marquee) – with dance evenings
• Frühschoppen (morning pint) – on Sunday morning
• Königsessen (king's dinner) as a social highlight
• Kranzniederlegung (wreath-laying) at the memorial
• Schützengottesdienst (shooting club church service)
