Shooting Tradition in Rockstedt

Rockstedt is a district of the municipality of Selsingen in the northern district of Rotenburg (Wümme). The Rockstedt Shooting Club has been preserving the village shooting tradition for generations and organizes the annual Schützenfest in June. Despite the village's manageable size, the club manages to organize a varied festival program that involves the entire village community.

Several Royal Courts

A special feature of the Rockstedt club is the variety of royal courts proclaimed each year. The children's royal court is formed by the youngest shooters, the youth royal court for the middle age groups. The ladies' royal court demonstrates strong female participation in the club, and the gentlemen's royal court represents the active male members. The grand monarch royal court crowns long-serving, deserving club members. This diversity shows the cross-generational and cross-gender anchoring of shooting tradition in the village.

Zeven Shooting District

The Rockstedt Shooting Club is a member of the Zeven Shooting District, which brings together numerous clubs from the northern district region. The events of the member clubs are coordinated calendrically so that friendly clubs can visit each other.

Festival Parade and Coronation

As is customary at traditional Schützenfeste, the festive parade through the village with a marching band, friendly clubs, and the various royal courts forms a visible highlight. The ceremonial coronation of the new majesties in the festival tent is the emotional climax of the weekend.

Meeting Point of the Village Community

The Schützenfest Rockstedt is a meeting point for the entire village community. Former residents of Rockstedt return for the weekend, families celebrate together, and friendly clubs are guests. The festival grounds become the social center of the district.
