Traditional Schützenfest in Oldendorf (Luhe), Amelinghausen municipality
The Schützenverein Oldendorf (Luhe) e.V. is the central body for marksmen's traditions in the Oldendorf an der Luhe community. Like many marksmen's clubs in the heathland region, the club cultivates sport shooting with small-bore rifles and air rifles, as well as social club life centered around the annual Schützenfest. Members come from Oldendorf and the surrounding villages of the Amelinghausen municipality.
The festival follows the North German marksmen's tradition: Assembly of club members in uniform in the morning, king's shooting on the marksmen's range, parade through Oldendorf, proclamation of the new marksmen's king and queen, king's dinner, and dance evening in the festival tent. Friendly clubs from the Amelinghausen municipality — Amelinghausen, Betzendorf, Soderstorf, Rehlingen — participate in the parade.
Like all village Schützenfeste in the region, the Oldendorf Schützenfest is open to the entire village. Families will find carousels, bouncy castles, children's entertainment, and small game stations. The morning pint (Frühschoppen) on Sunday morning with bratwurst and brass music serves as a social meeting point for the village community.
Oldendorf is located on the Luhe river southwest of Lüneburg in the Amelinghausen municipality. Its rural setting between heathland and meadow landscapes shapes the character of the place. With active clubs, a fire department, and a church community, Oldendorf maintains a vibrant village life — the Schützenfest is an expression of this strong community identity.
As in previous years, club members, families, and guests from the surrounding villages of the Amelinghausen municipality will gather. The program includes assembly in uniform in the morning, king's shooting and cup competitions in the morning and afternoon, a parade through Oldendorf in the late afternoon, the king's proclamation in the evening, and a dance evening in the festival tent, forming the classic program highlights.
The exact detailed program for 2026 will be published by the marksmen's club in early summer. The structure follows the proven highlights:
