King's Shoot July 20, Festival July 25 to 27, 2026
Neuscharrel is one of the independent farming communities within the town of Friesoythe. The village has a lively marksmen's association that organizes the annual Schützenfest — the highlight of the association's year and the most important date in the village calendar. Its own website (neuscharrel.de) testifies to the active club life and digital presence maintained by many village clubs in West Oldenburg.
Like many Friesoythe marksmen's associations, Neuscharrel also separates the King's Shoot from the main festival. The King's Shoot will take place on July 20, 2026 — a focused marksmen's event to determine the new king. The actual festival weekend will follow from July 25 to 27, 2026, during which the elected king and his court will be publicly presented and celebrated.
The festival weekend at the end of July falls right in the middle of the summer season — summery weather (hopefully), a warm marquee atmosphere, and long, bright evenings. The program follows the proven structure: Saturday festival opening, assembly of the marksmen, festival ball with a live band. Sunday festive church service, festive parade with friendly associations, proclamation of the royal couple, morning pint. Monday family day and festival finale.
With the date at the end of July, Neuscharrel fits between Thüle (end of June / beginning of July) and the main Friesoythe festival (August 1–3) — a link in the long chain of West Oldenburg marksmen's festivals that make Friesoythe and its districts a stronghold of Schützenfeste from May to August.
Schützenplatz Neuscharrel, Friesoythe district. Take the A1 exit Cloppenburg, then approx. 25 km. Parking is available at the Schützenplatz and in the surrounding streets.
Admission prices for evening dances apply on-site. The festive parade, festive church service, and morning pint are freely accessible.
At the 2026 Schützenfest, the new king elected on July 20 will be publicly proclaimed — a central moment of the festival weekend.
