Heeßen and the Municipality of Eilsen

Heeßen is a village in the municipality of Eilsen in the Schaumburg district of Lower Saxony. In addition to Bad Eilsen, the municipality includes other communities such as Ahnsen, Buchholz, and Luhden, each with its own marksmen's clubs that preserve the tradition. The region is characterized by a particularly dense marksmen's tradition; many clubs have been active for over a century.

Four Festival Days

The four-day format of the Heeßen Schützenfest allows for a relaxed program structure. The start on Friday culminates in the bird shooting competition on Saturday, which determines the new monarch. On Sunday, the grand festival parade is the highlight, followed by the king's dinner and family day. Monday brings a relaxed king's breakfast and a quieter program to conclude the festivities.

Friendly Clubs

The marksmen's clubs of the municipality of Eilsen maintain intensive cooperation. Boards, delegations, and drum corps visit each other at their festivals, creating a dense network of camaraderie and tradition. For the Heeßen festival, this means the participation of neighboring clubs in the festival parade and on the festival evenings, underscoring the festival's supra-local significance.
