Traditional marksmen's festival of the Harsefeld Shooting Club from 1903, featuring marksman king Sven Deden
The Harsefeld Shooting Club was founded in 1903, boasting over 120 years of club history. Like many shooting clubs in Lower Saxony, it emerged during a period of strong organization in civil associations. Today, the club is not only active in sports but also serves as a central carrier of social functions – club life, youth work, the Schützenfest, and participation in village community life.
The municipality of Harsefeld is located in the western Stade district and is one of the region's most vibrant municipal centers. With the Klosterpark as its central venue, several clubs, an active business community, and a rich annual calendar, Harsefeld has developed its own profile as a cultural hub. The Shooting Club is one of the pillars of this club life.
At the 2025 Schützenfest, Sven Deden was crowned the new Marksman King. He represents the club until the 2026 Schützenfest, when he will proclaim the new king at the king's proclamation ceremony. The king's role is honorable and comes with a series of obligations and privileges – from attending festivals of friendly clubs to representing the club at public events.
The highlight of the Schützenfest is the king shooting, traditionally aimed at a wooden bird as a target. Whoever shoots off the last piece of the bird becomes the new Marksman King. The king proclamation on the festival evening, with the handover of the king's chain and club regalia, is the emotional climax of the festival weekend.
The traditional festive parade winds through Harsefeld, accompanied by fife and drum corps, music bands, and friendly shooting clubs from the district. A family day with a children's king shooting and family program rounds off the Schützenfest. The dance evenings in the festival tent with live music and DJs attract guests beyond the club's immediate circle.
At the 2026 Schützenfest, Sven Deden's reign as king will end, and the new king for 2026/2027 will be determined.
The exact date and program will be published by the club in spring and summer 2026.
