Marksmen Culture in the Wesermarsch
The Wesermarsch region is home to a variety of marksmen's clubs, all organized under the umbrella of the Wesermarsch Marksmen's Association. Frieschenmoor is one of the districts with its own club and its own festival tradition. The two-day format allows the festival to unfold its program and offers more opportunities for social gatherings.
Competition and Festive Parade
On both festival days, the king's shooting, cup shooting, and youth shooting take place. The festive parade usually takes place on the second day through Frieschenmoor, often accompanied by a marching band or music group. The ceremonial crowning of the king is held in front of the festival tent, followed by the traditional king's dinner.
Dancing and Refreshments in the Festival Tent
On the festival weekend, the festival tent fills with families, club members, and guests. Live music, cold draft beer, and hearty food ensure a lively atmosphere. The Schützenfest is an occasion for family visits, reunions with former neighbors, and intergenerational celebration on the familiar festival grounds.
