Traditional Schützenfest of the Bergen City Marksmen Corps with parade, king's shooting, festival tent, and children's events
The Schützenfest of the Bergen City Marksmen Corps will be celebrated for the 121st time in 2026 – a number that highlights the centuries-old tradition of the marksmen's association. With around 13,000 inhabitants, Bergen is one of the larger towns in the northern Celle district and an important center within the Südheide region.
The festival traditionally runs from Wednesday to Sunday around the first weekend in July. The classic program points of a North German Schützenfest are spread across the five days:
The Bergen Schützenfest is more than a sporting and festive event – it is a moment of identification for the entire city. The tradition of being active in the marksmen's corporation spans many families. The King or Queen of the year enjoys honorary status in the city community throughout the year.
The 121st edition of the Bergen Schützenfest will take place from Wednesday, July 1st, to Sunday, July 5th, 2026. The start on the first Wednesday of July is traditional; many program points are designed around this opening date.
The exact program for 2026 will be published in advance by the Bergen City Marksmen Corps. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Bergen (City), 29303 Bergen – City center, festival grounds, and festival tent area.
By bus from Celle. Parking at the festival grounds is limited.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Payment for food, drinks, and amusement rides is made directly at the stalls.
