Traditional Schützenfest of SV Aschendorf since 1632 — almost 400 years of club history
The Schützenverein Aschendorf/Ems of 1632 e.V. looks back on an almost 400-year-old club history. Its founding in 1632 falls during the Thirty Years' War — an era when marksmen's brotherhoods organized in many places to defend citizens against the turmoil of war. From this tradition, the club evolved over the centuries into the current bearer of the Schützenfest tradition for the Aschendorf village community.
Today, Aschendorf is a district of the town of Papenburg, but it was an independent municipality for a long time and has retained its village identity. The Schießhalle Aschendorf/Ems is the traditional festival grounds of the Schützenverein and the heart of club life.
From 6 PM, festival opening with the King's retrieval, march to the festival grounds, opening evening with live music or DJ.
Festival service, shooting competitions, King's dinner, grand festive parade, King's proclamation, dance evening.
Family afternoon, further shooting competitions, winding down until 11:55 PM.
Like many old marksmen's clubs, SV Aschendorf upholds its traditions — festival service, King's proclamation, festive parade — and carefully adapts them to the needs of modern club work. Young members, children's and youth shooting, modern live music at the dance evenings — all complement the traditional program and secure the club's future.
The 2026 edition continues the centuries-old tradition. With a club dating back to 1632, Aschendorf celebrates one of the oldest Schützenfeste in the Emsland region.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the club in advance. The structure follows the proven key points:
