Overview

The 2025 Railway Festival took place in September at the Schöneweide Railway Depot. As in previous years, the Bw and its workshops on Wagner-Régeny-Allee in Berlin-Niederschöneweide opened their doors to the public for a weekend. The focus was on historic steam and diesel locomotives, along with steam locomotive rides and a packed family programme.

The 2025 Railway Festival continued the annual tradition in southern Berlin. Over a weekend in September, the Schöneweide Railway Depot on Wagner-Régeny-Allee transformed into a meeting point for railway enthusiasts from Berlin, Brandenburg, and all over Germany.

Around 20 historic locomotives and wagons were lined up on the premises – including express and freight steam locomotives, as well as the rare Class 74 small railway steam locomotive. Steam locomotive rides, workshop tours, model railway layouts, a railway memorabilia market, and a children's programme rounded off the weekend.

The admission system, with adult tickets at around €12 and children's tickets at around €5, has proven successful for years. The event was again organised by the railway associations that maintain the railway depot, in cooperation with DB. The festival is one of Berlin's most important railway events and laid the groundwork for the 21st edition in 2026.
