Overview

The 2025 concert series at Schloss Weißenbrunn continued the proven concept of song recitals, chamber music, and artist-in-residence programs. International soloists performed at the baroque country estate in the Haßberge Nature Park and utilized the exceptional sound of the historical fortepianos. The 2025 season also served as the preparatory phase for the first International Fanny Hensel Competition, to be held in 2026.

In 2025, the Schloss Weißenbrunn Foundation once again opened the castle from spring to late summer for its concert series. As usual, the program included song recitals, chamber music programs, and artist-in-residence concerts with young, internationally sought-after musicians. The historical fortepianos — Brodmann (1827), Graf (1824), Broadwood (1829), and Pleyel (1836) — were used again, primarily for romantic Lied repertoire.

In parallel, preparations were underway for the 1st International Fanny Hensel Competition, which garnered worldwide interest: 49 Lied Duos from around the globe applied for the eight final spots. With this initiative, Schloss Weißenbrunn solidified its position as a European center for historically informed Lied interpretation.

Highlights

The 2025 season featured song recitals, chamber music, and artist-in-residence concerts, highlighting the use of four historical fortepianos. Preparations for the 2026 International Fanny Hensel Competition were also a key focus.
