Liederabend with Sina Günther and Jan-Lukas Willms — ReMember Me! Songs by Forgotten Female Composers
The program ReMember Me! Songs by Forgotten Female Composers pursues a clear objective: to make works by female composers visible and audible that were often overlooked in the male-dominated music canon of past centuries. Despite demonstrably high compositional quality, women like Fanny Hensel (née Mendelssohn), Clara Schumann, Pauline Viardot, Cécile Chaminade, or Lili Boulanger were rarely included in the repertoire of major concert halls. Sina Günther and Jan-Lukas Willms dedicate themselves to this repertoire with a specially curated program that combines familiar and rediscovered works.
Sina Günther studied singing and is active as a song interpreter and concert singer in Northern Germany and internationally. Her warm, expressive mezzo-soprano voice is particularly suited to the Lied repertoire — from German art songs and French mélodie to contemporary works. Her commitment to underrepresented female composers is part of her artistic profile.
Jan-Lukas Willms is a versatile pianist with a focus on song accompaniment and chamber music. As a sensitive accompanist, he shapes the soundscape of the song recital, creating a true musical partnership between voice and piano. His playing is characterized by clarity, dynamic differentiation, and musical depth.
The Charlottensaal in Schloss Hämelschenburg is one of the most beautiful rooms in the castle complex. With its historical furnishings — stucco ceilings, wood paneling, original furniture —, its bright daylight, and its excellent acoustics, it offers an ideal setting for intimate concert formats such as song recitals. The limited seating ensures a focused atmosphere where every nuance of the performance can be heard.
The Landschaftsverband Hameln-Pyrmont e.V. has been organizing cultural events in the region for decades. The Schlossklänge series features concerts in historical venues in the Weserbergland region and is supported by patrons, sponsors, and volunteers.
The program ReMember Me! is one of the artistically consistent concert formats that advocate for greater visibility of female composers. The exact selection of songs will be published in the program booklet on the evening of the event.
