Overview

The 2025 edition of the Schlossberg Festival has been suspended by the organizers. The reason was a reorientation of the festival concept — instead of a single block weekend, the new three-weekend model was developed for 2026. In 2025, no official Schlossberg Festival took place on the Schlossberg; Freiburg's open-air program was covered by the ZMF at the Mundenhof and smaller series.

The year 2025 passed without any programming for the Schlossberg Festival. The organizers used the break to revise the concept: distribution over three weekends instead of one block, new stage arrangement, slightly increased admission prices to cover costs. The format will return in 2026.

Those who wanted to experience open-air concerts in Freiburg in 2025 found alternatives at the Zelt-Musik-Festival (ZMF) at the Mundenhof and at small summer series like Sommerklang at Augustinerplatz. The Schlossberg itself remained a popular recreational area — restaurants and beer gardens at Kanonenplatz and at the Schlossbergrestaurant Greiffenegg operated throughout the summer.
