Overview

The 19th edition of the Schauinslandkönig took place in July 2025. On the closed Schauinslandstraße, hundreds of participants once again competed in various categories over the 11.5 km and 800 vertical meters. Since 2007, the event has developed into Germany's largest mountain time trial — with a uniquely wide range of permitted sports equipment, from professional road bikes to unicycles.

Preparation for the Anniversary

The 19th edition in 2025 served as the immediate prelude to the anniversary edition in 2026. The format — individual time trial every 8 seconds on the closed L 124, main categories around 10 a.m., special categories between 11:00 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. — has stabilized over the years and is now considered nationally unique in this form.

With each year, the visibility of the Schauinslandkönig in the South German cycling scene has grown; professionals and amateur riders mingle, handbike athletes have a permanent place, and unicycle athletes test the limits of their equipment. The 20th edition in 2026 will celebrate this diversity.
