42nd edition of the Saarburg Market Days from June 29 to July 1, 2026, featuring a craft market, wine stand with 12 vintners, city run, and Sunday shopping.
The Saarburg Market Days are among the most traditional and largest city festivals in the southwest of Rhineland-Palatinate. The 42nd edition will take place from June 29 to July 1, 2026 – a three-day program in the historic city center of Saarburg, combining crafts, wine, sports, and retail. The town of Saarburg, as a collective municipality and tourist destination in the Saar region, with its famous waterfall cascading right in the middle of the old town and the baroque castle silhouette above the town, is one of the most well-known sights in the region.
The program is built on four pillars. A craft market with exhibitors from the region offers pottery, jewelry, wood art, textiles, and culinary specialties, shaping the image of the Market Days over all three days. The wine stand with 12 vintners – set up in the city center – brings the diversity of Saar wines directly to the heart of the event: Saar Riesling from nearby vineyards, complemented by sparkling wine and Burgundy. The wine stand is open on Saturdays from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The sporting highlight is the 5th International Saarburg City Run on Friday, June 29, from 5 PM to 8:30 PM. The route leads through the old town, past the waterfall and along the historic buildings – an extraordinary course for runners from the region and neighboring Luxembourg, France, and Saarland. This kicks off the weekend with a major sporting event that draws a large crowd to the city center.
The event concludes with a Sunday with open shops: The retail stores in Saarburg's city center open their doors, adding attractive shopping opportunities to the market activities. The organizers are the Saarburg Business Association and the municipal event office Station K Kultur.Events. The Market Days are a central showcase for the town, attracting day-trippers from Trier, Saarland, Lorraine, and Luxembourg.
The 42nd edition in 2026 continues the established format.
Travel by train or via the B51 is recommended; parking in the city center is limited.
