Grand Rose Monday Parade of the KG Gerolsteiner Burgnarren e.V. (founded 1952) on February 16, 2026, starting at 2:11 PM through the city center, concluding at the Rondell.
The Rosenmontagszug of the KG Gerolsteiner Burgnarren e.V. has been the major jester event in the Vulkaneifel for over seventy years. With the traditional start time of 2:11 PM, the Burgnarren set their signature carnival number and ensure Rhineland-influenced Fastnacht joy in the Eifel town.
The Carnival Society Gerolsteiner Burgnarren e.V. was founded in 1952 and is one of the most traditional carnival clubs in the Eifel. With the opening of the season on November 11th, numerous sessions, children's and senior carnivals, as well as the grand Rosenmontagszug, the club shapes social life in Gerolstein throughout the fifth season.
The parade forms in the early afternoon and winds through the center of Gerolstein. Floats from local clubs, friendly carnival societies from Hillesheim, Daun, Jünkerath, and Stadtkyll, music bands, dance troupes, and the Gerolstein Prince and Princess form the colorful spectacle. Throwing materials – Strüsjer (carnival trinkets), sweets, small gifts – are distributed to the audience.
The parade ends at the Rondell parking lot on Brunnenstraße. Immediately afterwards, the grand Rose Monday party begins at the Rondell – with live music, DJs, a festival tent, catering, and exuberant carnival atmosphere. Participants and spectators celebrate into the evening.
Gerolstein, the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde and known for the mineral water from the Gerolsteiner Brunnen, is the largest town in the Vulkaneifel with approximately 7,700 inhabitants. Carnival, nature experiences, history, and economy shape the town's identity. The Rosenmontagszug of the Burgnarren is one of the central annual identification events.
