Open-Air rock festival at the Friedensdenkmal above Edenkoben — two days of cover bands and tribute acts on the Werderberg
Rock am Friedensdenkmal is an established open-air rock festival taking place on August 7th and 8th, 2026, at the Friedensdenkmal on the Werderberg above Edenkoben. Two days of cover bands and tribute acts attract around 3,000 visitors to the hill above the Pfälzer Weinstraße – a format that combines rock music with a wide view over the Rhine plain and the Vosges mountains.
The 2026 lineup includes Puzzle, Iron Maidmen, Sleeping Sun, Phil, and Journeye (Journey tribute). Saturday is already sold out, tickets are available from €29.90. The festival thrives on its unique setting – the Friedensdenkmal, built in the 19th century, sits enthroned on an elevation with a panoramic view, making the event a visually and acoustically striking experience.
The Friedensdenkmal on the Werderberg was erected in 1899 to commemorate the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. The monumental sandstone structure is enthroned on a hill above Edenkoben and offers a wide view over the Rhine plain, the Vosges, and – on clear days – the Black Forest. The meadow in front of the monument serves as the festival grounds for the open-air stage and the audience.
The festival consistently focuses on cover bands and tribute acts of the great rock classics. In 2026, Puzzle, Iron Maidmen (Iron Maiden tribute), Sleeping Sun (Nightwish tribute), Phil (drummer / multi-cover), and Journeye (Journey tribute) will be on stage. The format appeals to audiences who want to experience rock classics live without having to rely on original lineups.
Rock am Friedensdenkmal has developed into an established date in the Palatinate rock summer calendar in recent years. Reports indicate that the festival's opening of the past edition attracted around 3,000 visitors, and Saturday 2026 is already sold out. Tickets are available from €29.90 for Sunday.
Edenkoben is a traditional wine town on the Südliche Weinstraße between Neustadt and Landau. The Werderberg rises west of the town and is accessible via a marked hiking trail from the town. Visitors to Rock am Friedensdenkmal often combine the festival day with a hike through the vineyards – hiking attire recommended.
