Hattgenstein Observation Tower as a Nature Park Highlight

The Hattgenstein observation tower was inaugurated in 2017 and is one of the newer major observation structures in the Westhunsrück. With a height of 27 meters and a slightly spiral design, it offers a 360-degree view over the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park, and, in clear weather, far into the Saarland and Luxembourg. The ascent via the open steel structure is an experience in itself; once at the top, one of the most beautiful panoramas in the region unfolds.

Rock Open-Air at the Foot of the Tower

On a Saturday in June, this special location becomes a concert venue: a stage is set up at the foot of the observation tower, and regional rock bands and occasional national acts play under the open sky. The spectrum ranges from classic rock music to cover bands and harder sounds; the program and acts vary from year to year. Bratwurst, fries, draft beer, and non-alcoholic drinks complete the offerings. Those who arrive early can still climb the observation tower and experience the sunset over the nature park.

Atmosphere and Hunsrück Flair

Unlike large commercial open-airs, Rock am Aussichtsturm thrives on its genius loci: the landscape, the tower, the stars over the Hunsrück. It's a manageable, regionally connected event that, for precisely this reason, has a loyal fan base from the Westhunsrück and the upper Nahe region.
