About RindertanzKulturFestival

The RindertanzKulturFestival is a free, two-day festival held at Rindertanzplatz in Trier-Mitte, focusing on Jewish music, Klezmer, and sounds from Central and Eastern Europe. Organized by ttm GmbH under the curatorial direction of Jan Hoffmann, the festival combines musical programs with a children's program and workshops at the neighboring Stadtmuseum Simeonstift on Jewish heritage in Trier. Rindertanzplatz — historically a site for Trier's cattle trade — will be equipped with a stage and seating areas. Free admission.

The RindertanzKulturFestival addresses a central gap in Trier's cultural calendar: the presentation of Jewish life and musical heritage in Germany's oldest city had long been insufficiently institutionalized. For centuries, Trier had a significant Jewish community, whose traces are visibly present in the city's history in many ways. With the RindertanzKulturFestival, ttm GmbH, together with curator Jan Hoffmann, has established a format that embraces this tradition using contemporary means and relates it to further musical cultures from Central and Eastern Europe.

Programmatically, the festival ranges from Klezmer (classic Eastern Jewish clarinet and violin music) to Yiddish songs, Sephardic romances, Roma music, and Balkan sounds, as well as contemporary crossover formats. The live stage at Rindertanzplatz will be active throughout the weekend. During the day, there will be a children's program with age-appropriate musical and educational formats, as well as workshops at the neighboring Stadtmuseum Simeonstift on Jewish heritage in Trier.

Free admission. Food and drinks available with Jewish, Eastern European, and regional specialties.
