Overview

The first edition of RE.LIGHT took place in 2024, establishing the International Light Art Festival in Regensburg's World Heritage Old Town. With light projections and installations at numerous locations, the premiere attracted many visitors and laid the foundation for its biennial continuation.

With its spectacular premiere in 2024, RE.LIGHT launched as a new International Light Art Festival in Regensburg. The first edition transformed the medieval World Heritage Old Town into a parcours of light with projections, installations, and immersive shows by national and international artists.

The large visitor turnout for the inaugural edition confirmed the concept and led to the decision to continue RE.LIGHT biennially. The festival thus quickly established itself as a firm fixture in the cultural calendar of the city of Regensburg and the Upper Palatinate.
