Overview

The 2025 edition of the PrevYou Short Film Festival took place at the end of May at the Peter Edel Education and Cultural Center. 32 short films by young filmmakers from German-speaking countries were shown, accompanied by workshops, film talks, and an After-Shorts Party. The festival once again proved to be one of the most distinguished emerging talent formats for short films in Berlin.

The 2025 edition followed the proven concept: 32 carefully curated short films, several premieres, free workshops, and a weekend full of film talks. Filmmakers from Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich presented their works, often thesis films or first longer festival submissions.

The format with moderated discussions after each program block proved to be a meeting space between filmmakers and the audience. The After-Shorts Party on Saturday evening brought filmmakers, jury, and audience together – a contrast to the rather formal atmosphere of larger short film festivals. PrevYou thus remains one of the most accessible learning and visibility formats for young film in the German-speaking world.
