Kick-off of the Kerwe season in Bürgerpark Pfingstweide with traditional rides and culinary stands
Pfingstweide is a young district in the north of Ludwigshafen, which emerged as a new development area from the 1970s onwards and today represents an independent quarter with its own infrastructure, schools, and club life. Bürgerpark Pfingstweide forms the green center.
The Pfingstweidefest traditionally marks the beginning of the Ludwigshafen Kerwe season – which extends until late October with the Pfalzfest, the Stadtfest, and the district Kerwen of Mundenheim, Oppau, Edigheim, Oggersheim, Friesenheim, Ruchheim, Maudach, and Rheingönheim. This kick-off gives the festival its special significance in the calendar.
The festival grounds on the parking lot next to Bürgerpark Pfingstweide offer ample space for several rides, smaller carousels, candy stalls, game booths, and snack stands. The adjacent Bürgerpark serves as a green relaxation area – families can combine the folk festival with a walk in the park.
Classic rides – carousels, smaller roller coaster-like devices, children's rides – characterize the festival grounds. Confectioneries and candy stalls have been part of German folk festival tradition for generations and are also represented here: gingerbread hearts, Magenbrot, cotton candy, candied almonds, Turkish delight.
Parking spaces are available on Budapester Straße, Prager Straße, and Brüsseler Ring. Arrival by public transport is via bus lines from Ludwigshafen main station.
The festival grounds at Bürgerpark offer space for classic folk festival stands and carousels. The park itself serves as a green break between the stalls.
The accompanying program for 2026 will be published in good time by the district association and Lukom. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
