Three days of Palatinate wine, live music, and summer atmosphere on the historic market square
Since 2003, the city of Peine has had an official partnership with the Palatinate winegrowing community of Asselheim-Grünstadt. The Peine Wine Festival, which brings Palatinate winemakers to the north every year in August, has emerged from this connection. The event is an expression of a vibrant city partnership that is filled with content beyond purely official encounters.
Classic Palatinate grape varieties are served at the stands of the Palatinate winemakers: Riesling, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder, and Dornfelder. The winemakers introduce themselves personally, explain their wines, and thus convey a piece of Palatinate wine culture. Those who cannot make the trip to the Palatinate get a concentrated Palatinate experience in Peine.
To complement the wine, a gastronomic offer is presented that combines Palatinate specialties with Lower Saxon classics. Saumagen, Pfälzer Bratwurst, Flammkuchen, and Quiche are on the menus, as are regional specialties. The sponsor of the festival is Wohnbau Salzgitter, which supports the commitment of the city of Peine in culture and location marketing.
Bands play on a stage in the market square on all three festival days. The musical program is deliberately chosen to be easily accessible and ranges from jazz and swing to pop and lively dance music. The mix of historic scenery, summer weather, good wine, and live music creates a relaxed, Mediterranean atmosphere that is second to none.
The wine festival is an important image carrier for the city of Peine. It positions the city as an attractive event location and as a culturally open municipality that actively cultivates its partnerships. Thousands of guests from the greater Hanover-Braunschweig area use the festival to get to know Peine, discovering a vibrant city center with its own character.
Over three days, the stands of the Palatinate winemakers are spread around the historic market square of Peine. The winemakers introduce themselves personally, serve their wines, and engage in conversations with interested guests.
Live music, sunset over the city center, and a well-filled glass of wine make summer evenings in August a special experience. Those looking for the South in the North will find it at the Peine Wine Festival.
