A Palatinate-Lower Saxony Partnership

Since 2003, the city of Peine has had an official partnership with the Palatinate winegrowing community of Asselheim-Grünstadt. The Peine Wine Festival, which brings Palatinate winemakers to the north every year in August, has emerged from this connection. The event is an expression of a vibrant city partnership that is filled with content beyond purely official encounters.

Palatinate Wines in the North

Classic Palatinate grape varieties are served at the stands of the Palatinate winemakers: Riesling, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder, and Dornfelder. The winemakers introduce themselves personally, explain their wines, and thus convey a piece of Palatinate wine culture. Those who cannot make the trip to the Palatinate get a concentrated Palatinate experience in Peine.

Culinary Offerings

To complement the wine, a gastronomic offer is presented that combines Palatinate specialties with Lower Saxon classics. Saumagen, Pfälzer Bratwurst, Flammkuchen, and Quiche are on the menus, as are regional specialties.
