Season start in Northern Germany's largest garden show — April 18, 2026
The Park der Gärten in Bad Zwischenahn-Rostrup originated from the Lower Saxony State Garden Show and is considered the most important permanent exhibition for contemporary garden architecture in Northern Germany. Across approximately 14 hectares, garden designers, landscape architects, and nurseries present around 40 themed gardens — from sculpture gardens and water gardens to perennial borders, rose promenades, and show gardens.
The garden year begins with the season opening on April 18, 2026. The grounds are open daily until October 4, 2026, gradually unfolding through the vegetation phases — from tulip blooms through roses, perennials, and summer flowers to autumn colors. Approximately 60 special events are spread throughout the season, including concerts, children's activities, workshops, and the late-summer light installation “Illumination — Light Magic in the Park der Gärten”.
The opening day traditionally offers guided tours through the themed gardens, expert insights into the year's plantings, and culinary offerings in the park's gastronomy. The show gardens of the North German nurseries will also be presented at the start of the season — they change from year to year and showcase current trends in garden design.
The garden facility is located in the Rostrup district, a few kilometers from Bad Zwischenahn, and is well integrated into the tourism around the Zwischenahner Meer. Visitors often combine their visit with a stroll in the spa gardens or a boat trip.
The program follows the proven structure of previous years:
