Summer Parish Festival of the Catholic Parish of Sacred Heart at the Parish Hall Niederzissen with a concert by Trio Doina
The Catholic Parish of Sacred Heart Niederzissen is the central church community of the Brohltal collective municipality. It serves the population of Niederzissen and several branch locations and maintains a vibrant parish life with services, sacraments, children's services, senior afternoons, and youth work. The Parish Festival is the social highlight of the parish calendar, bringing parishioners together once a year for a large communal summer day.
In 2026, the Parish Festival will take place on Sunday, June 28th, a time when the weather is usually summery and stable, allowing the festival to be held outdoors around the parish hall. After the morning festive church service, the parish hall opens its doors and outdoor areas to guests.
A musical highlight of the 2026 festival is the concert by Trio Doina. The ensemble performs Eastern European and Balkan music with accordion, violin, and other instruments, bringing an extraordinary musical touch to the parish festival. 'Doina' refers to a special form of improvised, melancholic singing in Romanian folk music and is considered a classic of folk music tradition in the region.
Parishioners provide a diverse range of food and drinks. Cakes from home bakers, grilled items, cold drinks, coffee, and beer are offered at moderate prices. The proceeds from the festival benefit the parish and its charitable projects. The festival is open to all citizens, regardless of their denomination.
Parish festivals have a long tradition in the predominantly Catholic regions of the Brohltal, Eifel, and Voreifel. They are not only religious but also social events that strengthen the village community and connect generations. The Niederzissen Parish Festival is part of this tradition and an important date in the community's event calendar.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Festive church service in the Catholic Parish Church of Sacred Heart Niederzissen, led by the parish and possibly accompanied musically by the church choir.
Transition from the church service to the parish hall, opening of the Parish Festival by the pastor and the parish team. Welcome of guests with a glass of sparkling wine or an aperitif.
Communal lunch with grilled items, salads, and side dishes from the home baking of the parishioners. Afterwards, coffee and cake at richly laid tables in the parish hall and garden.
Concert by Trio Doina with Eastern European and Balkan sounds. Accordion, violin, and other instruments bring melancholic folk tunes and spirited dances to the parish hall. The trio is among the esteemed folk music ensembles of the region.
Continuation of conviviality, encounters between parishioners and guests from the Brohltal. Winding down in the early evening with clean-up and a cozy get-together.
