Osterode am Harz is one of the oldest and most beautiful towns in the Südharz region. With its well-preserved half-timbered old town, the historic market square, and its characterful alleys, it is one of the most visited towns in the region. The Osterode City Festival uses this unique setting to transform the town center into a grand stage once a year.

Festival Mile in the Old Town

Over several days, the festival activities spread across the squares and streets of the old town. Various stages offer live music from a wide range of genres: from rock and pop to Schlager and folk music, as well as jazz and acoustic sets. Gastronomy stands offer regional specialties as well as international cuisine, beer, wine, and cocktails. Artisans present their work, associations introduce themselves, and a children's program ensures entertainment for the youngest visitors.

Sunday with Open Shops

The city festival is traditionally combined with a Sunday when shops are open. The shops in the town center open their doors, and the shopping experience merges with the festival. This makes the city festival an important event for Osterode's retail trade and a platform where the town presents itself in an inviting way.

The Osterode City Festival is deeply rooted in the community. Associations, schools, churches, restaurateurs, and retailers participate in the program, ensuring that the festival becomes a unifying experience for the entire town every year. The organizers are the City of Osterode am Harz in cooperation with the VTM Osterode association (Verein Tourismus & Marketing Osterode).
