Open-Air Impro Theater Festival Freiburg — Edition 2025

The 28th edition of the Open-Air Impro Theatre Festival Freiburg took place in July 2025 at the Stadtgarten bandstand in Freiburg. As since 1997, Theatersport Freiburg organised the festival with ten improvisation groups from Germany and abroad, who presented twelve performances under the open sky over six days. The skill level traditionally ranged from beginner groups to advanced players and professionals. The range of formats included: long-form improvisation, short-form (theatre sport with audience suggestions), musical improvisation, and thematic improvisation. The festival concluded once again with the traditional Champignon evening, where 12–14 players from all groups improvised together. The festival once again confirmed its reputation as a central platform for the German-speaking improvisation theatre scene and as one of the most atmospheric open-air theatre festivals in the country.
