Bavarian Oktoberfest of the Marksmen's Club Fürfeld 1972 e.V. at the Schützenhaus
The Oktoberfest of the Schützenverein Fürfeld 1972 e.V. brings a piece of Munich's Wiesn atmosphere to the small Rhenish-Hessian-Nahe region municipality of Fürfeld once a year. At the end of September, the Schützenhaus is transformed with blue and white decorations, beer benches, a festival tent character, and Bavarian specialties into a mini-Oktoberfest. Everyone is invited who fancies a traditional atmosphere with Maßkrug (liter beer mug), pretzels, and party music.
The organizer is the Schützenverein Fürfeld, which traditionally hosts two major club festivals a year – the summer festival in August and the Oktoberfest in September. Both festivals are fixed dates in the municipality's calendar and attract visitors from Fürfeld and the surrounding villages.
Munich's Oktoberfest has found countless imitators in Germany – including in small villages like Fürfeld. The mix of traditional music, hearty food, beer in Maßkrüge, traditional costumes, and relaxed conviviality is appealing. In Fürfeld, the Oktoberfest takes place in a smaller, but very personal setting: the Schützenhaus offers an intimate atmosphere where club members, family, and friends celebrate together.
The Oktoberfest typically starts in the afternoon or early evening. Bavarian delicacies such as Weißwurst (white sausage), pretzels, Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), Obatzda (cheese spread), and Hendl (roast chicken) are on the menu; beer is served from the tap – ideally from Bavaria, or alternatively as a German beer mix. A live band or DJ provides the musical accompaniment, ranging from folk music to Schlager to modern party hits. Traditional costume is welcome, but not mandatory.
The Schützenverein Fürfeld 1972 e.V. is the driving force behind the events at the Schützenhaus. Members and helpers set up the festival themselves and take care of catering and the program. The proceeds go into the club's budget – maintenance of the Schützenhaus, investments in the shooting range and club equipment, and youth work.
Fürfeld is located in the Verbandsgemeinde Bad Kreuznach, on the border with the Alzey-Worms district. The municipality, with around 1,000 inhabitants, is surrounded by vineyards, fields, and orchards. Together with its sister villages Neu-Bamberg, Frei-Laubersheim, and Tiefenthal, Fürfeld forms a small festival region with its own clubs, castle ruins, and wine festivals.
The 2026 Oktoberfest of the Schützenverein Fürfeld will take place on Saturday, September 26, at the Schützenhaus. Bavarian specialties, draft beer, party music, and a relaxed club atmosphere will be offered. Free admission.
The detailed program (band, culinary offer, start time) will be announced by the Schützenverein Fürfeld in September 2026 on sv-fuerfeld.de.
