Part of the Anniversary Festival Chain

The 2026 Oktoberfest is an important event in the anniversary festival chain celebrating the double 75th anniversary of the Groß Varlingen local fire brigade and shooting club: August 28 Festival Commemoration, August 30 Shooting Festival, October 3 Oktoberfest, October 4 Harvest Festival. With this festival chain, both clubs are celebrating their extraordinary double jubilee.

Bubingas as the Musical Highlight

The live highlight is the performance by the atmosphere band Bubingas. Bubingas is established in the Mittelweser region and western Lower Saxony as the festival band for major anniversaries, shooting festivals, and Oktoberfests. With their mix of popular hits, Bavarian 'Wiesn' music, Schlager, and cover classics, they cover the entire repertoire of festival evening entertainment and ensure the typical 'Wiesn' atmosphere.

Bavarian in the North

Even though Lower Saxony is geographically and culturally far from Bavaria, the Bavarian Volksfest charm has a broad appeal. Lederhosen and Dirndl are welcome; in the festival tent, there is Bavarian beer (often in Maßkrugs, liter steins), hearty cuisine like Hendl (roast chicken), Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), Weißwürste (white sausages), Brezn (pretzels), and the atmosphere is deliberately geared towards the 'Wiesn' feeling.

German Unity Day as the Date

By choosing October 3 (German Unity Day) as the date, the Oktoberfest takes advantage of the public holiday for a long weekend. Many guests can travel relaxed and celebrate again the next day, the Harvest Festival.
