Obsidian Echoes 2025

The 2025 edition of the Obsidian Echoes Festival took place in late November at the Weststadthalle Essen — continuing the indoor festival format for Post-Punk, Darkwave, and Gothic in the Ruhr area, which began the previous year. The lineup followed the established concept: four to six acts on one stage, a single festival day, a clear genre axis.

The Weststadthalle once again proved to be the ideal venue: an indoor concert hall with a capacity of around 600–800 seats, enabling a concentrated festival experience without drifting into the anonymity of larger venues. The scene from NRW, Hamburg, and the Netherlands once again used the festival as a regional meeting point.

With its consistent program quality and the festival's now clear positioning as a genre meeting point, the 2025 edition laid the foundation for 2026, which features Pink Turns Blue, one of the defining German Post-Punk acts, as headliner.
