Christmas market of the asparagus city Nienburg with wooden huts on Kirchplatz, Finnish village in the town hall courtyard and ice rink
For years, the Nienburg Christmas Magic has been an attraction for visitors from the entire Nienburg/Weser district, from Bremen, Hanover, and Verden. Unlike many Christmas markets that concentrate on a few days, the Nienburg Christmas Magic extends over all four Advent weekends until December 23rd, offering a particularly long and relaxed period of enjoyment.
The centerpiece is the decorated wooden hut village on Kirchplatz, directly in front of the historic St. Martin's city church. The lovingly decorated wooden huts offer arts and crafts, regional food, Christmas decorations, jewelry, toys, handmade candles, and culinary specialties ranging from mulled wine to bratwurst, from candied almonds to Finnish specialties.
A special feature is the Finnish village in the town hall courtyard – a tribute to the Nordic Christmas tradition. With traditional Finnish huts, a Lapland feeling, Finnish specialties (Glögi, Karjalanpiirakka, reindeer sausages), a campfire atmosphere, and cozy corners, the Finnish village offers a unique experience within the Nienburg Christmas Magic program.
An ice rink in the middle of the city center allows ice skating for young and old. Ice skates can be rented on-site, and small learning tables help beginners. The ice rink is a particular highlight for families.
On weekends, there is a musical program with Christmas choir performances, brass ensembles, participation from the Nienburg Music School, and performances by trombone choirs. Santa Claus visits children, and a fairy tale corner invites listening. The historic city center with its lighting and decorated shops provides the perfect backdrop.
The Nienburg Christmas Magic is organized by the City of Nienburg/Weser in cooperation with associations, churches, and the marketing community. The well-thought-out concept combines Christmas atmosphere, regional quality, and a clearly family-oriented offering. With its four Advent weekends, Nienburg has secured a firm place as a Christmas destination in western Lower Saxony.
The daily updated program for 2026, including performance times for musical contributions and special events, will be published by the City of Nienburg on nienburg.de and in local media.
