Summer open-air concerts in the spa gardens of the state-recognized health resort in the Diepholz district
Bruchhausen-Vilsen, located in the Lower Saxony district of Diepholz and designated as a state-recognized health resort, maintains a long tradition of cultivated spa culture. The spa gardens, with their old trees, paths, and resting areas, are the natural venue for the “Musik im Park” series. On selected Sunday afternoons between May and June, the grounds open up for open-air concerts.
The concerts are free of charge and complement the spa program around the nearby Brunnenpark, the Heimathaus (local history museum), and the water-treading facilities. Seating is limited, so many visitors bring blankets or folding chairs and enjoy the music in a relaxed atmosphere. The series is conceived as a communal summer event: families from the region, hikers on the Mühlenkreis (mill circuit) trail, and overnight guests of local guesthouses meet here for casual afternoons.
“Musik im Park” is organized by the municipality of Bruchhausen-Vilsen and is part of the Sunday concert series, which also takes place in the spa gardens. The program is deliberately broad, ranging from brass music and big band sounds to folk, Schlager (popular German music), and acoustic pop sets. Each performance lasts about two to three hours and will be moved indoors to a nearby hall depending on the weather.
The municipality is known beyond the region for the museum railway operation of the historic narrow-gauge railway to Asendorf, for its historic town center with half-timbered houses, and for its nature-based recreation in the Vils Marsch. Concert visits can therefore be easily combined with a day trip. In summer, events such as the Schützenfest (marksmen's festival) calendar and markets complement the tourist offerings.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept of the series: two summer concerts in the spa gardens, free admission, and a program of regional bands appealing to a broad audience. The concerts begin in the afternoon and usually last two to three hours. In case of bad weather, they will be moved to an indoor venue.
The spa gardens, with their old trees, offer a particularly atmospheric setting that distinguishes the event from comparable concerts in town halls. The series complements the cultural offerings of the summer months in Bruchhausen-Vilsen and aligns with the tradition of the health resort.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
In case of unfavorable weather, the concert will be moved to an indoor venue. Current program information is available through the Tourist Information of the municipality of Bruchhausen-Vilsen and via the official website.
