Weekly chamber music concerts in the historic Marble Hall of the UNESCO World Heritage spa town of Bad Ems
The Marble Hall in the Staatsbad Bad Ems is one of the most impressive concert halls on the Middle Rhine. Built in a classical style, clad in light marble, and perfectly proportioned for chamber music, it offers a worthy setting for the Music in the Marble Hall concert series.
The series is aimed at lovers of classical music in a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Concerts take place weekly during the spring series – for example, on February 26th, March 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th, 2026 – supplemented by further dates in summer and autumn.
The programme includes chamber music in various formations: string quartets, piano trios, song and piano recitals, and small ensemble formats spanning the entire spectrum of classical music. The changing programmes combine well-known composers with discoveries beyond the standard repertoire.
A special feature is the admission policy: €8 per concert is a deliberately low price, intended to keep the format accessible to a broad audience. Holders of the KaiserCard – the spa card of Bad Ems – even have free admission.
Parallel to the 'Music in the Marble Hall' series, the Staatsbad hosts the 'Weltklassik am Klavier' format: a piano recital with international soloists every second Sunday of the month at 5 p.m. This creates a dense network of chamber music offerings throughout the year.
With the 2026 season, the Staatsbad Bad Ems continues its concert tradition. The combination of accessible admission prices, a historic hall, and a carefully curated programme makes Music in the Marble Hall a firm fixture in the cultural landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
