Overview

In 2025, the Museumskinderfest once again transformed the Zitadelle Spandau into a playground for families from all over Berlin on a Sunday in May. Workshops, sword fighting, shadow theatre, and magic shows combined the Renaissance backdrop with a children's cultural program. Despite budget constraints, the Spandau District Office upheld its mission: free cultural participation for children from all social classes — confirmed by the annual statement from Cultural Councillor Dr. Carola Brückner.

The 2025 edition continued the proven format: on a spring Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM, the Zitadelle Spandau transformed into a large-scale family park with creative workshops, sword fighting exercises, shadow theatre, dance performances, a pop program, and magic. Admission and workshops were free — the Museumskinderfest thus remains one of the few major Berlin children's cultural formats that seriously fulfills the claim of cultural participation across all social classes.
