Overview

The last regular main edition of the Münsterland Festival took place in autumn 2025 — with concerts at special venues throughout the Münsterland region. The biennial format brings international artists to castles, abbeys, and industrial monuments in the region for several weeks each time.

The main edition of the biennial Münsterland Festival was planned for 2025; the smaller special edition in cooperation with BurgJazz at Burg Vischering follows in 2026. The "Music and Art in Special Places" format has made the festival a distinct brand in the North Rhine-Westphalian cultural landscape since 2002.

Münsterland e.V., as the organizer, also uses the festival as a cultural policy instrument to make the region visible — the Münsterland, situated between Münster, the Ems river, and the Dutch border, thus gains a clear cultural profile beyond its Volksfest tradition.
