Overview

The premiere of the mowe Festival took place in May 2025 in Moabit and Wedding. The Berlin collective POLIGONAL established a new format for art and urban culture with this first edition at venues across the two Berlin districts — featuring concerts, performances, city walks, and participatory formats with free admission.

mowe 2025 — The Premiere

With its first edition in 2025, the Berlin collective POLIGONAL (Lukas Staudinger and Christian Haid) established a new festival format in the Berlin districts of Moabit and Wedding (Mitte borough). The concept combined art, urban culture, and participatory formats in a decentralized setup — no central festival stage, but dozens of venues across the two neighborhoods. Concerts in pubs, performances in public spaces, exhibitions in apartments, city walks with architects, bike tours exploring local stories, and participatory hands-on formats — all with free admission, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF / KUBIST program) and the Berlin Senate Department for Culture. The premiere was met with great enthusiasm from the local community and Berliners interested in culture from other districts — justifying its continuation as the 2026 edition with an expanded program (47 venues, over 100 contributions, motto "ICONS").
