Until 2025, the Wanner Mondnächte took place at Buschmannshof as a classic neighbourhood festival with a stage and live bands. According to Stadtmarketing Herne, the event was "loud and well-attended" — the feedback regarding the volume, in particular, led to the concept revision and the new Mondtreff format from 2026 onwards.

Wanner Mondnächte 2025 — Last Edition of the Old Format

The 2025 edition was the last under the previous format "Wanner Mondnächte". With a large stage and loud live concerts, it filled Buschmannshof as in previous years — according to Stadtmarketing Herne reports and halloherne.de, it was "loud and well-attended". It was precisely this feedback on volume and scale that prompted Stadtmarketing to revise the concept: From 2026 onwards, Mondtreff will invite visitors in a more relaxed format — lounge instead of stage, curated music instead of headliners. The 2025 edition thus marks the end of an era and the transition to a new neighbourhood festival format at Buschmannshof.
