About middenmang-Loop
middenmang-Loop — edition 2026
The third edition continues the successful concept of previous years. In 2025, 324 participants took part in various distances – a number that is again targeted for 2026. Registrations are possible via the organizer or the website obw-emden.de.
The format is deliberately low-threshold: no prior qualification, no minimum time, inclusion on all routes. Accompanying services include refreshment stations, medical support, and a small supporting program.

Inclusion through Sport
The middenmang-Loop is a fun run format with a clear inclusive aim. The organizer is obw Emden – an institution for workshops and inclusion services for people with disabilities in East Frisia. The word "middenmang" comes from Low German and means "in the middle" or "amongst everyone." The third edition in 2026 continues the success of previous years, which saw several hundred participants each time.
Routes for Everyone
Four competitions are available: a children's run (Kinner-Loop) for the youngest participants, a 5 km route as a fun run distance, a 10 km route for more ambitious runners, and a walking route for everyone who cannot or does not want to run. This ensures that everyone can find a suitable way to participate.
Route and Schedule
The start and finish area are located at the obw premises at Herderstraße 19. The routes lead through the obw grounds and the adjacent Emden city forest, which offers an attractive running course with its paths and clearings. Starting documents will be issued from 1 p.m.; the competitions begin in the late afternoon and continue into the evening.
Social Commitment
The entry fee is 10 EUR for adults; children, youths, and people with disabilities are exempt from the fee. All entry fees are fully donated and benefit social causes. The format combines physical activity, social cohesion, and concrete social impact – a model format that has found resonance in the East Frisian sports scene.
