Anniversary festival of the KLJB Mettenheim for its 55th anniversary with beer, wine, and live music on the Kulturhof festival grounds
The Catholic Rural Youth Movement (KLJB) has been an important pillar of club life in many Rhenish-Hesse villages for decades. In Mettenheim, the local group celebrates its 55th anniversary in 2026 – a remarkable milestone for a youth organization that has been committed to young people in rural areas since the early 1970s. The KLJB Mettenheim has shaped generations of young Mettenheim residents during this time, organized countless activities, outings, and festivals, and is now part of the village's cultural memory.
The festival grounds at Mettenheim Kulturhof provide the ideal setting for a summer open-air festival. The Kulturhof, a traditional Rhenish-Hesse courtyard that has been developed into a community event venue in recent years, regularly hosts concerts, markets, and club festivals. For the KLJB's anniversary festival, a marquee, stage, and stalls will be set up. A special feature of the festival is inherent in its name: beer and wine are offered equally, which is not a given in a Rhenish-Hesse wine-growing village.
While most Rhenish-Hesse summer festivals focus almost exclusively on local wine, the KLJB festival consciously emphasizes the combination. Palatinate and supra-regional beers are on the menu alongside wines from Mettenheim vintners – Riesling, Silvaner, Grauburgunder, Spätburgunder, and Rosé. This mix appeals to a broad audience: wine lovers will get their money's worth, as will beer drinkers who want to round off a summer evening with a freshly tapped Pilsner.
A live band will provide the atmosphere on stage, and the food will be served by KLJB members and friendly clubs. Sausages, fries, burgers, Spundekäs (a cheese spread), and sweet specialties complete the culinary offerings. The festival is a meeting point for the entire village community and a statement for the vitality of club culture in Rhenish-Hesse.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the key points of a classic club anniversary:
