Dauner Adventsleuchten on the 2nd Advent weekend, December 5th and 6th, 2026 on the Burgberg, at the Protestant Church and in the Forum Daun – 20 festival huts.
The Dauner Adventsleuchten is the central Christmas market of the district town of Daun and one of the most traditional Advent markets in the Vulkaneifel. Organized by the town of Daun, the program on the 2nd Advent weekend is spread across three locations: Burgberg, Protestant Church, and Forum Daun.
The concept of the Dauner Adventsleuchten is based on distributing the stalls across three complementary squares:
Around 20 festival huts offer a diverse range of products: Advent wreaths, floristry, woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, knitwear, honey, jams, and small gift items. The focus is on regional exhibitors from the Eifel and Hunsrück regions, giving the Adventsleuchten an authentic character.
The gastronomic offerings follow the classic Christmas market canon: mulled wine (red, white, children's punch), waffles, bratwurst, potato pancakes, crêpes, candied almonds, lard bread, and mushroom pans. Various clubs and catering businesses from the town of Daun participate in providing refreshments for visitors.
A diverse children's program is one of the hallmarks of the Dauner Adventsleuchten: a visit from St. Nicholas with gifts, face painting, craft activities, storytelling, and musical performances. The market is thus explicitly aimed at families from the Vulkaneifel and surrounding municipalities.
As the name suggests – “Adventsleuchten” (Advent Lights) – the market emphasizes particularly atmospheric lighting. Fairy lights, lanterns, candles, and Advent lighting transform the Burgberg, the grounds of the Protestant Church, and the Forum forecourt into a pre-Christmas light ensemble.
The district town of Daun, administrative seat of the Vulkaneifel district, is centrally located in the Eifel region and surrounded by famous maars – Gemündener, Weinfelder, and Schalkenmehrener Maar. The Adventsleuchten is the Advent counterpart to the summer Laurentiuskirmes and an important attraction for visitors from the entire district.
The 2026 edition of the Dauner Adventsleuchten follows the proven concept: three atmospheric locations, 20 festival huts, and a diverse children's program. The dates fall on the 2nd Advent Sunday – traditionally the highlight of the Daun Advent calendar. The date (December 5th/6th, 2026) is in the middle of the Advent season and offers an ideal occasion for a visit to the district town of the Vulkaneifel.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in autumn 2026. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
