300th Anniversary — Largest Downtown Fair in the Sauerland with over 200 Exhibitors and Nostalgic Park
The Menden Pentecost Fair celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2026! Since 1726, it has been a fixture in the Sauerland region and is considered the largest downtown fair in the Sauerland. In 2026, the anniversary celebration runs from Saturday, May 23rd to Tuesday, May 26th (Pentecost weekend). Over 200 exhibitors, including rides, food, and game stalls, are spread throughout downtown Menden. The City of Menden is the organizer, celebrating the anniversary with numerous special events.
The anniversary program begins on Friday, May 22nd, 2026:

Regional and S-Bahn train services will be increased during peak times. Bicycle parking is available at several points.
Menden is located in the Sauerland region of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the Märkischer Kreis district. The town has around 53,000 inhabitants and is a medium-sized industrial and commercial center between Iserlohn, Hagen, and Arnsberg. It is characterized by the Hönne river (a tributary of the Ruhr) and the Sauerland landscape of forests and hillsides. The Pentecost Fair has been Menden's most important city festival and landmark for 300 years.
The 300th edition marks the pinnacle of the centuries-old Pentecost Fair tradition. The City of Menden is adding a special festive framework with numerous special promotions — limited collectibles, historical exhibition, walking acts, and nostalgic carousels.
Note: Detailed stall map, walking act schedule, and special events will be published on menden.de and hellwegeranzeiger.de shortly before the festival begins.
Free admission. Rides, food, and drinks at the stalls are individually priced. Tuesday 3 PM–6 PM Happy Hour with 50% discount on all rides. 0-Euro collector's note: €5 (limited, 3,000 copies).
By car: A46 exit Menden, then follow signs for the city center. Park-and-ride on the outskirts (free shuttle bus Sun+Mon every 30 mins). By public transport: RB54 (Dortmund–Iserlohn) Menden station, approx. 10 min walk to the city center; increased service during Pentecost.
Friday, May 22nd: Pre-opening program 3 PM–11 PM at Margot-Friedländer-Platz. Saturday, May 23rd: 2 PM–12 AM (official opening). Sunday, May 24th: 11 AM–12 AM. Monday, May 25th: 11:30 AM–12 AM. Tuesday, May 26th: 11 AM–12 AM (Happy Hour 3 PM–6 PM, fireworks late evening). Free admission.
For families: Tuesday with Happy Hour (-50% on rides 3 PM–6 PM) and Children's Rally 11 AM–2 PM is the best day. Get the commemorative mugs and 0-Euro notes on the first day — limited editions tend to sell out quickly. The historical exhibition at Hönnetreff is worthwhile for fair enthusiasts.
