Overview

The 30th anniversary edition in 2025 was held under the motto “30 Years of Diversity Instead of Simplicity”. Thousands of visitors strolled through the stalls of Neckarstadt-Ost on Max-Joseph-Straße. Regional bands performed on the stage at the turning circle, and international food stalls offered dishes from around the world.

30 Years of Max-Joseph-Straßenfest

The 2025 edition celebrated the 30th anniversary of the festival. The initiative group and participating associations recalled the origins in the 1990s in their speeches – as Neckarstadt-Ost's response to xenophobic attacks in several German cities. Local bands, children's circus, and contributions from Mannheim's cultural scene alternated on stage.

International food stalls, information booths from refugee aid organizations, youth centres, and counselling services lined the street until late evening. As every year, the proceeds went to integration projects and work with refugee children in Mannheim. The festival attracted thousands of residents from Neckarstadt and visitors from all over the city.
