Edition 2025 — MarktFestSpiele
The premiere of the MarktFestSpiele 2025 brought the new one-day festival format to Wunsiedel's market square. Weekly market, cultural program, karaoke, and live music took place concurrently; the ensemble of the Luisenburg Festival Plays gave a much-noticed guest performance. The positive response from citizens and tourism was the reason to continue the format as a fixed annual event from 2026 onwards.
The first edition of the MarktFestSpiele was a test — and a successful one. The city of Wunsiedel set up the format with a manageable budget and great volunteer commitment. Weekly market, lunch at the market, Luisenburg Festival Plays ensemble, karaoke, and live music made the day attractive for a cross-generational audience.
With the positive feedback, the city decided to establish the format as an annual event starting in 2026. The second edition in 2026 builds on the premiere, with an expanded evening program and the new city tour "Stadtlichter Wunsiedel".
