May Fair in the Heart of Quakenbrück

The Maimarkt Quakenbrück is the annual May fair (Kirmes) of the town of Quakenbrück — the historic center of Artland in the northern Osnabrück region. The venue is the Neue Markt, one of the central squares in the town, which hosts various markets and events throughout the year.

Five Days in Mid-May 2026

The 2026 edition runs from Thursday, May 14, to Monday, May 18 — five days of full fairground atmosphere. The five-day format is common in Lower Saxony, combining a Thursday start, weekend peak, and a family day on Monday.

Giant Chain Carousel as the Main Attraction

The hallmark of the Maimarkt is the giant chain carousel — one of the most spectacular showman attractions. With long chains and a circular motion at dizzying heights, it is the main draw for young and brave adult visitors. Other rides complete the scene: dodgems, Break-Dancer, Music Express, carousels for children.

Stalls, Games, and Food

In addition to the rides, shooting galleries, skill games, strongman games, and slot machines offer the classic fairground game experience. Snack stands serve bratwurst, fries, crêpes, candied almonds, cotton candy, potato pancakes, and fried dough pastries. The festival caterer's stand provides main meals and beer.

Quakenbrück — Historic Center of Artland

Quakenbrück is the historic capital of Artland with a rich medieval history and a well-preserved old town.
