Joint evening of open wineries in Deidesheim and Forst with tastings and wine talks in atmospheric lighting
When the harvest is in and the new vintage is slowly maturing in the cellars, the quieter time of the year begins in the Palatinate. Precisely then, once a year in November, the wineries of Deidesheim and Forst invite you to the Long Night of Wineries – one of the most elegant and intimate wine events in the entire Mittelhaardt. Unlike the big summer festivals, the event is aimed at enthusiasts who seek time and tranquility for conversations, tastings, and discoveries.
The participating wineries – including prominent names from the VDP circle and smaller family-run businesses – open their courtyards between 5 PM and 11 PM. With a central ticket or tasting pass, visitors can freely switch between the estates, using bus shuttles or walking the short distance between Deidesheim and Forst. Each location offers curated tastings, often with a thematic focus: Riesling comparison, Burgundy evening, sparkling wine special tasting, or vertical tastings of older vintages.
Many wineries offer culinary accompaniments: cheese platters with Palatinate specialties, small hot dishes, Saumagen variations, tarte flambée. Some courtyards host small concerts or acoustic sessions, while others focus purely on the tasting atmosphere. The lighting of the historic courtyards and vaulted cellars gives the event its unmistakable late autumn character, distinguishing it from all other wine events in the region.
The Long Night is not a big festival in terms of visitor numbers – but big in terms of quality. Anyone who has ever talked with one of the Forst or Deidesheim vintners in their courtyard or cellar about the terroirs of their village understands why the Long Night is a must-attend event for wine lovers. An evening that showcases Palatinate wine culture in its finest form.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept: joint opening of several Deidesheim and Forst wineries on a Saturday evening in November. Visitors purchase a tasting pass and can freely switch between the courtyards, often via shuttle bus.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years: each winery presents a thematically focused tasting – from Riesling comparison to Burgundy evening to vertical tastings of older vintages.
The list of participating wineries will be announced via the websites of the co-organizers (including Weingut Eugen Müller) and the Deidesheim Tourist Information.
Tasting pass with glass — 2026 prices will be published via the participating wineries and the Tourist Information.
