Overview

In May 2025, Hamburg's consulates and cultural institutes opened their doors for the annual Long Night of Consulates. Opening at MARKK Museum am Rothenbaum, followed by programs at more than a dozen venues across the Hanseatic city — embedded within the European Weeks Hamburg.

The 2025 edition continued the established format: opening at MARKK, followed by open doors at a variety of consulates and cultural institutes. Hamburg's international character was showcased in its most visible form that evening — consulates, which usually conduct their daily business behind closed doors, presented their countries with music, lectures, and typical national dishes.

The event is one of the fixed points of the annual European Weeks, with which the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg highlights its international connections. The public took advantage of the free admission for long city strolls — from consulate to consulate, from book presentations to tango demonstrations, from empanadas to sushi.
